The City of Georgetown is rich in Texas history, including two historic neighborhoods, Old Town and Downtown, which are a mix of commercial and residential properties. Of architectural note, this area has a proliferation of notable late 1800s-era design from the firm Mesker Brothers.

Challenge

To call more attention to and honor local history – as well as orient visitors to its historic distinct – an initiative was planned to roll-out a street sign project. They needed a partner in design and some unexpected logistics too.

Solution

No mere design project, the discovery phase brought Graphismo out of the office and onto the streets, doing the necessary field work to observe and catalog intersections and streets. Back in the office, the resulting design concepts -- one for each historic district --   employed color that spoke to the city's emblematic red poppy, along with architectural notes that are a nod to the historic Mesker buildings of the district.
